Koh Young to Dive into Dispensing Process Inspection Challenges and Explore Solutions in March 13, 2024 Webinar
February 20, 2024 | Koh YoungEstimated reading time: 2 minutes

Koh Young, the industry leader in True3D measurement-based inspection solutions, invites electronics manufacturers to our technical webinar, explaining how to improve efficiency and reduce costs by implementing laser interferometry for fluid technology. Hector Alan Hernandez from Koh Young will highlight how manufacturers can utilize the Neptune C+ for dispense process inspection to handle the toughest challenges. Register today for the Spanish webinar scheduled for March 13, 2024, at 11:00 am GMT-6.
Conformal coatings play a crucial role in protecting electronics from moisture, debris, corrosion, and provide mechanical stability to reduce failures and enhance reliability in harsh environments. However, thin or defective coatings can lead to system failures. Traditional laser-confocal and electron microscopes are limited to measuring three-dimensional shapes and are unable to inspect transparent materials due to their shallow penetration depth. Optical systems using UV light are effective only for simple 2D presence or absence. The patented L.I.F.T. Technology (Laser Interferometry for Fluid Tomography) offers non-destructive 3D inspection, precisely measuring wet or dry fluids, including material thickness, at production speed. Leveraging low-coherence interferometry, L.I.F.T. uses Near-Infrared Light (NIR) to capture images through multiple layers of a fluidic structure, irrespective of transparency.
The award-winning Neptune Series is the industry's first 3D optical inline measurement solution for transparent material inspection. Featuring an integrated flipper, intuitive programming, and machine-learning algorithms, the Neptune empowers manufacturers to thoroughly analyze their dispensing process using non-destructive 2D, 3D, and cross-section views to identify defects. Equipped with advanced algorithms for inspection parameter training, the Neptune accurately measures materials for coverage, thickness, and consistency based on user-defined threshold settings. It also detects bubbles, cracks, and other defects, including splash marks in "keep out" areas. Beyond coatings, the Neptune provides precise measurements for underfill, epoxy, bonding, and more, catering to transparent, translucent, and pigmented materials. Currently compatible with acrylic, silicone, polyurethane, hybrid coatings, and parylene, the Neptune marks a breakthrough as the industry's first True3D optical measurement solution for transparent material inspection, addressing a longstanding industry challenge.
