Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

Creative Electron Reinforces Commitment to U.S.-Built X-ray and CT Inspection Systems
May 5, 2026 | Creative ElectronEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Creative Electron, a U.S.-based developer of X-ray and computed tomography inspection systems, is strengthening its commitment to something that has become increasingly important in manufacturing: X-ray systems designed, built, and supported in the United States.
Across its facilities in San Marcos, California, and New Jersey, Creative Electron designs and manufactures its core inspection platforms, including the TruView™ Cube, TruView™ Prime, and TruView™ Fusion. Engineering, service, and technical support are also handled domestically, giving customers direct access to the people who know the systems best.
That local structure matters. Whether a customer is troubleshooting an issue, evaluating a new application, or adapting an inspection process for production, Creative Electron’s U.S.-based team can provide practical support without unnecessary delays or communication barriers.
In addition to its standard platforms, Creative Electron designs and builds high-energy nondestructive testing X-ray cabinets and rooms in the United States. These solutions support a wide range of applications, from electronics inspection to denser materials such as castings, welds, munitions, and engine components.
Each system is built on the same foundation: clear imaging, practical automation, and the flexibility to adapt to real-world inspection needs. The TruView™ Cube, TruView™ Prime, and TruView™ Fusion all support CT, or 3D X-ray, and can be configured for specific use cases ranging from laboratory environments to production floors. They can also be equipped with AI-driven inspection routines to help identify defects, take measurements, and reduce the uncertainty that can come with manual analysis.
The differences between the platforms come down to scale, power, and application.
The TruView™ Cube is designed for smaller samples and space-constrained environments, offering quick, real-time imaging in a compact footprint. The TruView™ Prime delivers more power and flexibility in a benchtop system, with options for automation and higher-resolution inspection. The TruView™ Fusion is built for larger samples and more demanding applications, with configurable X-ray sources, advanced automation, and the capacity to support complex inspection workflows.
Creative Electron’s approach is straightforward: build tools that solve real problems, then stand behind them. That includes a focus on domestic design, local sourcing where possible, and a support model built around direct communication and responsive service.
The company also places a strong emphasis on transparency and long-term collaboration. Customers are not treated as one-time transactions. They often work closely with Creative Electron’s engineering and applications teams to refine inspection processes, improve throughput, and get more value from their systems over time.
At its core, Creative Electron’s mission is to make a positive impact by developing X-ray tools that address real-world challenges. That mission is reflected in its culture as well, with a focus on respect, accountability, and the belief that advanced engineering should be practical, accessible, and useful.
As manufacturing continues to evolve, Creative Electron remains focused on what it does best: helping customers see what is happening inside their products and giving them the tools to act with confidence.
