United Electronics Corporation (UEC), a domestic manufacturer of high-reliability printed circuit boards, today announced the installation of two new machines from Schmoll Maschinen GmbH at its Franklin Park facility: the RS4 Raptor four-spindle routing machine and the EXY2 Eagle dual-station drilling/routing system. The additions significantly expand UEC's mechanical processing capacity and reinforce the company's commitment to precision, on-time delivery, and continued domestic manufacturing.
Meeting Demand with Increased Capacity
The two Schmoll machines strengthen the core of UEC's fabrication process, where accurate hole formation and edge routing directly determine the quality of every finished board.
RS4 Raptor — High-Capacity Routing. The RS4 Raptor routes four boards at once from a single program, giving UEC a major boost in capacity and faster turnaround on board profiling, slots, and cutouts. An onboard camera reads the first panel and optimizes the routing across all four positions, keeping edges clean and consistent even at high volume. It also adds a spray-lubrication system for cutting aluminum- and copper-backed boards, expanding the range of metal-backed products UEC can rout in-house.
EXY2 Eagle — Precision Drilling. The EXY2 Eagle is a high-accuracy drilling and routing system with two independent stations, each reading and adjusting to its own panel for maximum precision. That panel-by-panel accuracy makes it ideal for the most demanding work — including back-drilling on complex, high-layer-count boards — while its two stations keep throughput high and lead times short. Auto Collet Cleaning (ACC) maintains stable spindle runout and reduces downtime, keeping the machine in reliable production.
Precision Built on Proven Technology
Both machines are built on the technology platform that has made Schmoll a recognized leader in PCB mechanical processing — frictionless linear motors on every axis, high-speed air-bearing spindles, and temperature-stable granite bases engineered for low thermal expansion and long-term dimensional accuracy. At the heart of both is Schmoll's latest-generation S80 CNC controller, the successor to the long-proven S50 platform, which manages CCD camera registration in real time for panel-specific alignment accuracy. Industry 4.0 process-data capture — logging air pressure, flow, temperature, and production data — together with DNC connectivity gives UEC full job traceability and data-driven process control.
