The Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA) has launched the "PCB GPT Industry Knowledge Platform," which uses generative AI to connect PCB professional knowledge services and help the industry improve the efficiency of cross-border and professional talent training.
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology and the global PCB industry's continued move towards smart manufacturing and internationalization, the challenges faced by enterprises are no longer limited to process upgrades, but extend to talent training efficiency, knowledge standardization, and cross-border team collaboration management. Especially in the global manufacturing system, how to help personnel of different nationalities and language backgrounds quickly understand professional knowledge and communicate effectively has become a crucial key for enterprises to improve operational efficiency and strengthen competitiveness.
In view of this, with the support of the Industrial AI Promotion Policy of the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, TPCA collaborated with the Institute for Information Industry (III) to promote the construction of the PCB GPT platform. The association provides common industry professional data, hoping to use generative AI technology to help PCB companies establish a more efficient and consistent knowledge management and talent training model, accelerating the practical application of AI technology in the industry.
PCB GPT is a smart knowledge platform specifically designed for the PCB industry. It currently incorporates professional knowledge books and training content related to PCB fundamentals engineers, covering core knowledge such as engineering fundamentals, process principles, production line practices, professional terminology, and technical applications. Through a natural language interactive mode, new employees, engineers, and cross-departmental colleagues can quickly obtain the information they need, effectively shortening the learning curve and improving the efficiency of corporate education and training and the quality of knowledge transfer. Furthermore, to meet the needs of the PCB industry's global layout and cross-border collaboration, PCB GPT currently supports Chinese, English, and Thai, assisting companies in transferring technical knowledge and conducting daily work communication between their production bases in Taiwan and overseas. This reduces information gaps and misunderstandings caused by language differences, further improving the efficiency of cross-border team collaboration and overall management effectiveness. PCB
GPT is now officially open for TPCA member companies to apply for trial use. At present, the platform provides PCB professional knowledge Q&A, multilingual technical communication, and educational training application services, helping companies experience the practical application value of AI in talent development and knowledge management. In the future, it will continue to combine government resources and industry needs to gradually expand the platform's PCB professional knowledge content, application scenarios, and language services, creating a high-value ecosystem for AI applications in the PCB industry.
The launch of PCB GPT is not only a significant milestone for TPCA in promoting intelligent automation services for the industry, but also represents a new stage in the implementation of AI applications in Taiwan's PCB industry. It is hoped that through the promotion of PCB GPT, talent cultivation, knowledge development, and global deployment can be integrated, and further guidance can be provided to enterprises to develop and implement AI models within their factories, accelerating and expanding the adoption of AI by more enterprises to achieve digital transformation, and jointly creating new competitiveness for Taiwan's PCB industry through intelligent upgrades using AI applications.

I-Connect007 Editor’s Choice: Five Must-Reads for the Week
05/15/2026 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007When you work in the news business, even in trade media, you can never really get that far away from it. We never want to miss something important. Chances are, even the books we take on our “vacations” end up having to do with the business. For example, my colleague Michelle Te recommended “Creativity, Inc., by Ed Catmull, a business skills study wrapped up in stories about Pixar, which I brought with me on a trip through the stunning U.S. Mountain West. Now, I’m back, and here are my recommendations for the week.

Rethinking Stackup, Materials, and Tolerances in Modern Designs
05/14/2026 | Kristin Moyer, Global Electronics AssociationThe simple rectangular rigid PCB is becoming increasingly infrequent. This reality necessitates designing with concepts well outside traditional rigid PCB methodologies. For example, the designer of wearable electronics may need to implement conductive fibers integrated into the textile material. Heads-up displays, like those in VR/AR headsets and glasses, require transparent circuitry etched into the display glass. The process of designing without a rule book usually starts with something other than the traditional board design process.
Separating Fact from Fear on the FCC ‘China Lab Ban’
05/14/2026 | Jan Pedersen, NCAB GroupRecent news headlines have suggested that the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has “banned all testing laboratories in China and Hong Kong.” Understandably, this has created concerns around PCB testing, material approvals, UL listings, and the continued use of established test laboratories in Asia. The good news is that for most PCB, PCB material, and PCBA testing, nothing has changed. Let’s separate fact from fear.
