Jabil’s Daniel Gamota Earns Industry Leadership Award

Jabil Circuits' Daniel “Dan” Gamota, Ph.D., vice president of Strategic Capabilities for the company’s Engineering & Technology Services organization, has won the inaugural FLEXI Industry Leadership Award from FlexTech Alliance. This new award honors individuals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to driving awareness of advanced flexible hybrid electronics.
"Jabil is committed to its leadership position in advanced flexible hybrid electronics, and we are very proud to see Dan earn this important recognition for the caliber of his work here and for the electronics industry at large," said COO Bill Muir. "Dan's powerful combination of vision, strategic development and education has played a singular role in progressing and expanding the sophistication of this field. It is talented, dedicated leaders like Dan, together with our state-of-the-art capabilities for technological innovation, that enable Jabil to deliver world-class design and manufacturing solutions to our customers."
Gamota has devoted significant effort to establish and advance the flexible hybrid electronics industry through strategic roadmap development activities and standards work, including organizations such as International Electrotechnical Commission, IPC–Association Connecting Electronics Industries, International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Agency for Science, Technology & Research, as well as the World Technology Evaluation Center panel at the National Science Foundation. Gamota is a recognized thought leader in the fields of manufacturing, microelectronics, nanotechnology and flexible electronics, for which he was named an IEEE Fellow. With 47 U.S. patents to his name, Gamota is an established innovator with deep appreciation for intellectual property and innovations portfolio development, valuation and licensing.
In his role at Jabil, he is responsible for the company’s strategic technical capability development, as well as industrializing and transferring scalable manufacturing processes for medical, industrial, energy, consumer, aerospace, automotive and defense products to high-volume production sites.
"No one person could have much success without the cooperation of others in the emergence of a disruptive technology such as flexible hybrid electronics," Gamota said during his acceptance speech. "It has been a great pleasure in working with many of you in the advancement of the technology and the products they spawn."
The FLEXI awards, now in their ninth year, comprise the categories of Innovation, Research & Development, Leadership in Education, and now, Industry Leadership, were given on March 3.

Seeing a Future in Mexico
