Qnity Electronics, Inc., a premier technology solutions leader across the semiconductor value chain, introduced two new advanced memory cooling solutions leveraging Laird™ Graphite-over-Foam (GOF) and Laird™ Thermal Interface Material (TIM) technologies. Both advanced solutions help data center designers keep high-density memory systems, including Double Data Rate 5 Dual In-line Memory Module (DDR5 DIMM) modules cool, reliable, and serviceable as AI pushes memory density and power to new levels.
"As AI workloads place greater demands on memory bandwidth, capacity and speed, keeping memory modules cool is critical to sustaining performance and reliability," said Chuck Xu, President, Interconnect Solutions, Qnity. "We're working side by side with customers to extend the Laird thermal expertise they already rely on to advanced memory cooling, so they can improve reliability, simplify assembly, and scale AI infrastructure faster."
Leveraging its established Laird™ thermal interface and gap-filling technologies, Qnity's latest Laird™ GOF and Laird™ TIM solutions were designed with DDR5 DIMM architectures used in AI servers and high-performance computing in mind. As memory capacities and power consumption continue to increase, modern server platforms can deploy up to 48 DDR5 memory modules in densely packed DIMM rows, creating significant thermal management challenges.
The latest Laird™ GOF and TIM solutions enable system designers to optimize thermal performance while addressing critical mechanical considerations including dimensional tolerances, assembly requirements, serviceability, and long-term reliability. By powering efficient heat transfer while accommodating manufacturing and assembly variations, these advanced materials help improve system reliability, streamline assembly processes, and support the growing performance demands of next-generation AI data centers.
