The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced global semiconductor sales were $159.7 billion during the month of August 2026, an increase of 8% compared to the July 2026 total of $147.9 billion and 144.3% more than the August 2025 total of $65.4 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms.
“The global semiconductor market grew for the 18th consecutive month in August, with sales into the Americas, the Asia Pacific, and China driving strong and sustained year-to-year growth,” said Michael Robbins, SIA president and CEO. “Annual global semiconductor sales have already surpassed $1 trillion through August, reaching this major milestone for the first time ever. With sales projected to exceed $1.6 trillion in 2026, the semiconductor industry is entering an exciting new era of growth and innovation.”
