Breaking Down the Barriers Between Design and Manufacturing in France

10/15/2026 | Marcy LaRont, I-Connect007 Magazine
The IPC Designers Council France has nearly doubled since I-Connect007 last reached out to Thomas Romont, a manager at WWEC who leads the council. But growth is only part of the story. Through working groups, practical design tools, and an annual conference, the council is creating opportunities for designers, engineers, fabricators, EMS providers, and other stakeholders to solve problems together. Thomas explains how the group is addressing gaps in design guidance, improving communication between design and manufacturing, and encouraging the kind of collaboration increasingly required across the electronics industry.

The Fearless Connector: Why I Chose the Hard Road

10/14/2026 | Echo Yang -- Column: The Fearless Connector
From the outside, entrepreneurship can look exciting. You see the company name, the website, the customer meetings, and the photographs from business trips on social media. You also might see progress, but you do not always see the uncertainty behind it.

The Right Approach: Old Philosophies, New Tools

10/13/2026 | Steve Williams -- Column: The Right Approach
Quality management as a discipline was built by a handful of people who never touched a neural network, yet whose ideas map onto AI with almost eerie precision. Dr. Walter Shewhart, Dr. Edwards Deming, Dr. Joseph Juran, Philip Crosby, Dr. Kaoru Ishikawa, and Shigeo Shingo each built a philosophy around a specific lever for improving quality, including statistical rigor, reducing variation, prioritizing effort, eliminating defects, involving the workforce, and error-proofing the process itself.

I-Connect007 Welcomes Newest Columnist, Echo Yang of Archer Circuits

10/12/2026 | I-Connect007
I-Connect007 is excited to welcome Echo Yang, founder and president of Archer Circuits, as its newest columnist. As a female owner of a large Asian PCB company, Echo brings her candid, energetic, and practical view of the global PCB business to her column, The Fearless Connector. She will address the differences between Chinese and North American manufacturing, her own struggles to start a business, and some details about DFM, engineering, Gerber files, and the risks of treating RF, rigid-flex, and other demanding products like ordinary FR-4 work. She approaches it all with her own youthful, entrepreneurial spirit.

PCB West Keeps the Momentum Going

10/08/2026 | Marcy LaRont, I-Connect007
The weather couldn’t have been nicer for PCB West 2026 last week at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California. As soon as I walked into the conference on Tuesday afternoon, I saw old friends and colleagues. The energy was high and overwhelmingly positive during the four-day event, which featured 70 technical sessions and events, including 10 free sessions on Wednesday, the day of the Expo.
