The Board of Directors of Swissbit AG has appointed Dr. Stefan Hofschen as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2026. Hofschen joins Swissbit from Bundesdruckerei Gruppe GmbH, where he has served as CEO since February 2018. With extensive leadership experience, proven expertise in semiconductor technology and security, and a strong growth mindset, he will play a key role in shaping the next phase of Swissbit’s development.
A PhD graduate in electrical engineering, Hofschen began his career at Siemens AG in 1995. He subsequently held several senior management positions at Infineon Technologies AG, most recently as Division President Chip Card & Security. With many years of experience in the technology industry and recognized expertise in the security field, Hofschen is ideally positioned to drive Swissbit’s strategic expansion in the fields of industrial storage products and security solutions.
“Swissbit is delighted to welcome such an experienced manager and technology expert whose career path makes him an excellent fit for the company”, said Dr. Christopher Ganz, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Swissbit AG. “Stefan Hofschen has both profound knowledge of the semiconductor industry and extensive expertise in security. He is exceptionally well suited to continue Swissbit’s successful momentum and to lead the company into its next growth phase.”
For Hofschen, the move to Swissbit also has a personal dimension. The company’s roots go back to 2001, when Swissbit was founded through a management buy-out of a Siemens AG business unit – the very company where Hofschen began his career.
“As an innovative technology leader, Swissbit combines outstanding expertise in both storage and security solutions”, Hofschen commented. “I am very much looking forward to contributing to the company’s continued success and growth, and would like to thank the Board of Directors for their trust.”
Swissbit’s current CEO, Silvio Muschter, who has successfully led the company for many years, will continue to play a key role in shaping its future. As Group CTO, a newly created position, he will contribute his deep technological expertise to the company’s strategic direction. This step reflects Swissbit’s response to the increasing pace of technological change and ensures an even stronger focus on future market requirements.
