Current IssueIn Pursuit of Perfection: Defect Reduction
For bare PCB board fabrication, defect reduction is a critical aspect of a company's bottom line profitability. In this issue, we examine how imaging, etching, and plating processes can provide information and insight into reducing defects and increasing yields.
Voices of the Industry
We take the pulse of the PCB industry by sharing insights from leading fabricators and suppliers in this month's issue. We've gathered their thoughts on the new U.S. administration, spending, the war in Ukraine, and their most pressing needs. It’s an eye-opening and enlightening look behind the curtain.
The Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.

May 22, 2025 | MVTecEstimated reading time: 1 minute
MVTec Software GmbH, one of the world's leading manufacturers of machine vision software, supports education and training in the field of machine vision. The MVTec on Campus program, which offers universities and students free access to MVTec software products for academic purposes, will celebrate its fifth anniversary in 2025. To mark the anniversary, the program will be enhanced with numerous new features and improvements. "Machine vision is an important area of automation. With the increasing shortage of skilled workers and competitiveness in manufacturing, the importance of this technology is growing. This is where we come in with the MVTec on Campus program by supporting future specialists already during their studies", explains Franziska Hartl, who is responsible for the "on Campus” program at MVTec.
New Developments in the MVTec on Campus Program
For the fifth anniversary of the program, students now have access to the low-code image processing software MVTec MERLIC in addition to MVTec HALCON. The software is known for its ease of use and comprehensive functionalities, such as state-of-the-art deep learning methods. Another new benefit is the access to the MVTec Academy as part of the "on Campus Program". The MVTec Academy is a digital learning platform that offers interactive online courses on MVTec products. In addition to basic training courses, the platform also offers in-depth content for several areas of machine vision. The anniversary is rounded off with an anniversary campaign that includes webinars for students to learn more about the use of MVTec software products.
