I-Connect007 welcomes Michael Gleason, director of product development and strategic growth at GreenSource Fabrication, as its newest columnist. His monthly column, Built for What’s Next, will appear in I-Connect007 Magazine, offering a forward-looking perspective on PCB design, advanced manufacturing, and the technologies shaping the next generation of electronics.
With more than 20 years of experience in PCB manufacturing, Gleason brings a combination of engineering expertise, operational leadership, and practical knowledge of advanced fabrication. His column will challenge readers to reconsider familiar design constraints and explore how new materials, manufacturing processes, and closer collaboration can create opportunities for better-performing electronic systems.
The series will address topics such as designing for reliability, the relationship between manufacturing speed and innovation, sustainable fabrication, and the growing importance of integrating electrical, mechanical, and thermal considerations early in the design process.
Gleason's career includes management and executive positions in operations, engineering, and business development at several U.S. PCB fabricators serving the Department of Defense. Before joining GreenSource Fabrication in 2021, he spent five years at Draper in Cambridge, Massachusetts, leading advanced initiatives involving UHDI, organic substrates, substrate-like PCBs, and anti-tamper electronics packaging.
At GreenSource Fabrication, based in Charlestown, New Hampshire, Gleason helps guide the company's technical roadmap and advance its manufacturing capabilities.
His debut column, “The End of Flat Thinking,” examines why PCB designers must increasingly look beyond the board itself. Through examples involving stackups, materials, thermal management, and advanced fabrication processes, Gleason makes the case for bringing manufacturing expertise into the design conversation earlier.
Built for What’s Next will appear monthly in I-Connect007 Magazine, helping engineers connect today's manufacturing capabilities with tomorrow's design possibilities.
