Remtec, a leading manufacturer of advanced metallized ceramic substrates and packages, has announced its participation in the second year of the TechAMP advanced manufacturing training program developed through a collaboration between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Cape Cod Community College.
Eight Remtec employees have been selected to participate in the 2026–2027 program. The initiative is designed to develop leading-edge manufacturing, operational management, and quality skills that participants can apply directly within Remtec’s advanced manufacturing environment.
Interest in the program was exceptionally strong, with fifteen Remtec employees expressing a desire to participate. Although the initial remote cohort was expected to be limited to five employees only, Brian Buyea, President and CEO of Remtec, worked with program leaders to expand Remtec’s participation to eight employees. Those that were not selected for the first round, may be considered for the next cohort.

The program began September 8, 2026, with an initial in-person session at Cape Cod Community College. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and cover Technical and Operations Management and Quality Manufacturing along with. 12-week program is followed by a 10-week Capstone Project developed in partnership with the employer.
During the opening sessions, participants are learning how to access the program’s online resources, instructional videos, course documents, and Moodle learning platform. The faculty is also introducing the semester’s laboratory requirements and establishing expectations for the hands-on portion of the training.
While the initial classes and potentially several concluding sessions will be conducted in person at Cape Cod Community College, most instructions will be delivered virtually. Remtec is establishing a dedicated hands-on laboratory environment at its facility in Canton, Massachusetts, where employees will attend the virtual classes and complete practical laboratory assignments.
Cape Cod Community College will supply specialized lab kits to support the training. This hybrid format will allow participating employees to combine structured academic instruction with practical exercises conducted in a real-world advanced manufacturing setting.
“The ability to participate from our Canton facility makes this program especially valuable,” Buyea said. “Our employees will not simply be studying manufacturing concepts in the abstract. They will be learning together, completing hands-on work, and connecting that knowledge to the technologies, quality systems, and manufacturing challenges they encounter at Remtec every day.”
The TechAMP program will conclude with 12 college credits that may be applicable toward selected engineering-degree programs, subject to the transfer and admissions policies of participating institutions. This provides employees with both immediate professional-development benefits and a potential pathway toward continuing their engineering education.
Employee participation in the program is tuition-free.
