Mek (Marantz Electronics), a global specialist in Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) technology, has announced the availability of its newly redesigned PowerSpector JSAz 350 desktop AOI system.
The latest version of the 350 transitions from its original chassis shape to a scaled-down version of the newer PowerSpector JSAz 550 AOI series. A major enhancement in this model is the shift to a fixed PCB stage. While earlier 350 models moved the board along the Y-axis, the updated system keeps the PCB stationary during inspection, providing the same high mechanical stability found in the larger PowerSpector 550.
Building the 350 on this smaller frame offers a key advantage for manufacturing floors: a significantly reduced footprint compared to the 550. This compact size makes it an ideal choice for facilities looking to save bench space, while also delivering a more economical price point than its larger counterpart.
Despite its compact size, the PowerSpector 350 retains the full optical performance expected from the PowerSpector line, including its Selective 3D Laser Measurement Technology. By assigning a reference point and a target point, the integrated laser system allows operators to conduct precise height measurements on components and objects with high repeatability. The system can be configured with up to nine cameras, including a high-resolution top camera and eight angular side cameras, complemented by multi-angle LED lighting and Diffused On Axis Light (DOAL). It supports inspection across SMT and THT lines at all production stages and integrates directly with Mek’s Catch System for process control and traceability.
