India’s Enterprise Infrastructure Market Surges 30% on AI and Component Costs

According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Enterprise Infrastructure Tracker, India’s enterprise infrastructure market reached US$1.67 billion in the first quarter of 2026, up from US$1.28 billion a year earlier. The strong growth was driven by hyperscalers and cloud service providers front-loading investments in AI infrastructure, while enterprise spending also increased, with sharp increases in average selling prices primarily due to supply shortages.

Among enterprises, Professional Services, Manufacturing, Banking, and Telecommunications emerged as key growth drivers. Investments across these sectors were fueled by digital transformation, Infrastructure modernization to support cloud and application modernization, AI/GenAI, cybersecurity, analytics, and automation. Meanwhile, tight supply of memory and NAND flash, driven by strong AI and data-center demand and constrained production capacity, pushed component prices sharply higher, resulting in significant increases in system costs contributing to the overall increase in market value. 

Key Growth Drivers Shaping India’s Enterprise Infrastructure Market

• AI infrastructure investment: AI infrastructure investments remain the primary growth driver for the enterprise infrastructure market, fueled by the rapid adoption of Generative AI, Agentic AI, and enterprise AI applications. Hyperscalers, neocloud providers, and cloud service providers continue to expand their GPU infrastructure to meet growing demand as enterprises move from AI experimentation to production-scale deployments.
• Sovereign cloud and data localization: Data sovereignty, localization requirements are driving investments in local data centers and cloud infrastructure. India’s evolving data protection framework and policy support for domestic cloud and AI infrastructure are reinforcing this trend.
• Infrastructure modernization: Enterprises across BFSI, manufacturing, telecommunications, professional services, retail, healthcare, and government are accelerating infrastructure modernization to support AI-ready, cloud-enabled, and data-intensive workloads, while enhancing performance, scalability, and overall infrastructure efficiency.
• Cybersecurity and data protection: Rising cyber threats, expanding AI attack surfaces, and evolving data privacy requirements are driving enterprises to strengthen security, data protection, and resilience across their IT environments, prompting investments in modern compute, storage, networking, backup, and cloud infrastructure.

The Road Ahead for the Enterprise Infrastructure Market

India’s enterprise infrastructure market is expected to sustain strong double-digit value growth through the remainder of CY2026, even as unit growth remains comparatively muted. Hyperscalers and large domestic operators are expected to continue expanding GPU capacity, supported by India’s growing focus on indigenous GPU infrastructure, local large language model (LLM) development, and domestic AI research capabilities. At the same time, ongoing supply constraints, power and cooling limitations, and continued scrutiny of AI ROI are likely to temper demand growth and delay or extend deployment timelines.

With supply constraints driving sharp price increases and extended lead times, enterprises need to focus on doing more with the infrastructure they already have,” said Dileep Nadimpalli, senior research manager, IDC Asia Pacific. “Right-sizing systems, optimizing workload placement and utilization, consolidating workloads, and avoiding over-provisioning can help ease near-term pressure. In the longer term, enterprises should also consider alternative deployment models, including consumption-based offerings and public cloud, to improve flexibility, manage costs, and mitigate supply uncertainty, particularly as the timing of supply normalization remains unclear.”
