Technica USA Lunch & Learn Highlights Advances in PCB Cleaning and Thermal Processing

Technica USA’s Lunch & Learn event, held August 12–13 at the company’s Demo & Applications Center in San Jose, California, reinforced the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering value to customers and supply partners. Featuring DCT and Rehm Thermal Systems, the event brought together industry professionals for in-depth discussions on the latest advances in PCB cleaning and thermal processing technologies, while demonstrating how innovative solutions can help manufacturers improve process performance, reliability, and overall production efficiency in today’s increasingly complex PCB manufacturing environment.

The event attracted representatives from prominent Bay Area contract manufacturers (CMs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Jason Perry, President of Technica USA, opened the event by welcoming attendees to the company’s second Lunch & Learn of the year. He emphasized the importance of bringing customers and technology leaders together to exchange knowledge, explore new solutions, and address the evolving challenges facing today’s PCB manufacturers.

Michael Hanke, Chief Sales Officer, and Kristoffer Unger, Global Key Account Manager at Rehm Thermal Systems, opened the technical presentations by highlighting the successful collaboration between Rehm Thermal Systems and Technica USA. Their presentation showcased Rehm’s highly regarded equipment portfolio, local technical support capabilities, and extensive industry expertise, key elements in helping customers establish reliable processes, maximize equipment uptime, and effectively address production challenges. The presentation concluded with Rehm reaffirming its commitment to supporting U.S. customers through practical, hands-on technical assistance and sharing knowledge designed to help manufacturers achieve consistent, high-quality production results.

Following the Rehm presentation, Martin Kominek, Technical Sales Manager at DCT, shifted the focus to an often-overlooked but critical aspect of production equipment maintenance: cleaning. Martin emphasized that maintaining a reflow oven and other production equipment involves far more than simply keeping machinery operational; proper cleaning is an essential process-control activity. An effective maintenance and cleaning program helps protect thermal stability, maintain PCBA quality, maximize equipment uptime, and ultimately reduce total cost of ownership. As Martin emphasized, “A clean oven is a predictable oven.”

DCT’s AirJet® series, combined with its range of aqueous-based Decotron® cleaning agents, provides manufacturers with a stable, repeatable, and effective approach to equipment maintenance and cleaning. The presentation demonstrated how a proactive cleaning strategy can help manufacturers maintain equipment performance and minimize the potential impact of contamination on production processes.

Mr. Perry concluded the event by reminding attendees that, while Technica USA schedules four primary events at the Demo & Applications Center each year, customers are welcome to visit the facility throughout the year for equipment demonstrations, applications support, and hands-on problem-solving assistance. He also highlighted the equipment from other supply partners currently located at the Center, providing customers with the opportunity to see, evaluate, and discuss a broad range of PCBA manufacturing solutions in one convenient location.

The successful event further demonstrated the value of Technica USA’s Demo & Applications Center as a resource for the electronics manufacturing community, bringing customers, technology experts, and leading equipment suppliers together to share knowledge, explore emerging technologies, and develop practical solutions to today’s manufacturing challenges.
