It’s Only Common Sense: Win the Sale Before the RFQ Arrives

10/18/2026 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common Sense
There is an old belief in sales that the real competition begins when the request for quotation (RFQ) arrives. That may have been true once, but it is certainly not true today. By the time purchasing sends out an RFQ for a board or electronic assembly, many of the most important decisions about design, materials, production, delivery, and suppliers have already been made. At that point, the salesperson is simply pricing someone else’s solution.

The Fearless Connector: Why I Chose the Hard Road

10/14/2026 | Echo Yang -- Column: The Fearless Connector
From the outside, entrepreneurship can look exciting. You see the company name, the website, the customer meetings, and the photographs from business trips on social media. You also might see progress, but you do not always see the uncertainty behind it.

It’s Only Common Sense: Look Beyond the Tariffs

10/12/2026 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common Sense
Every time a new tariff is announced, companies start scrambling. Advanced and Conventional PCBs Do Not Exist in Separate Supply Chains

10/08/2026 | Jan Pedersen, Engineer and PCB Expert
At the NCAB Norway seminar on Sept. 10, I used a familiar example: a standard six-layer PCB. A year earlier, this would generally have been a straightforward purchase. Prototypes could be supplied on quick turn, and production quantities were commonly available within four to six weeks. Choosing standard materials helped secure a competitive price and predictable delivery. We knew what to expect, and we planned accordingly. We were all happy!

It’s Only Common Sense: Make Your ‘Account’ the Whole Organization

09/28/2026 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common Sense
Too many salespeople confuse personal familiarity with account penetration, but one contact does not make an account. Maybe that person likes you. She buys you lunch, answers your calls, and sends you RFQs. But what happens when she leaves or gets promoted? Then what do you have?  Nothing. Your account is the whole organization, which contains people with different responsibilities, pressures, priorities, and definitions of value. Professional salespeople understand that winning an account means building credibility throughout that organization.
