Electra’s ElectraJet EMJ110 Inkjet Soldermask– Now in Black & Blue at Sunrise Electronics

Following the successful deployment of Electra’s Green EMJ110 Inkjet Soldermask on KLA’s Orbotech Neos™ platform at Sunrise Electronics in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, production has now moved beyond green.
We’re proud to share that black EMJ110 soldermask is already in full production, delivered to customers, and performing well. In addition, blue EMJ110 has been fully approved for production runs, giving Sunrise even greater flexibility in meeting diverse customer design and branding requirements.
"This type of flexibility with colour will be a game changer for small to mid-size PCB manufacturers who need access to the full range of soldermask colours and finishes," said Ashley Steers, Global Sales Manager – Printed Circuit Products at Electra. "It proves that inkjet soldermask is not just about speed and precision — it’s also about unlocking design possibilities."
From the production floor, Sunrise has been equally enthusiastic. "Implementing black soldermask into production was straightforward, and we were able to take advantage of this cutting-edge application method right away," said Jiger Patel from Sunrise Electronics. "It’s opened the door to delivering more choice to our customers without slowing down production."
These latest developments underline the versatility of the ElectraJet® range and demonstrate how quickly new colours can be brought into live production without disruption. It’s another step forward in proving that digital inkjet soldermask is ready for high-quality, high-mix PCB manufacturing — in more than just green.
Congratulations again to the teams at Sunrise Electronics and Allen Woods Associates for their commitment to innovation and for showing what’s possible when partners work together to push PCB technology forward.

Weaning the U.S. Military Off a Tablet Supply Chain That Leads to China
09/08/2025 | Jim Will, USPAETablet computers are essential to how our military fights, moves and sustains, but these devices are built on a fragile global supply chain with strong ties to China. Building domestic manufacturing to eliminate this vulnerability is feasible if we tap into the information and capabilities that already exist and create strong demand for tablets produced by trusted and assured sources.
Defense Speak Interpreted: If CHIPS Cuts Back, What Happens to Electronics Packaging Funds?
09/02/2025 | Dennis Fritz -- Column: Defense Speak InterpretedIn my May column, I examined the topic of the CHIPS Act and its current status as a U.S. government program. I found that CHIPS activities continue, but some corporations have delayed or canceled them because of budget cuts or corporation-specific problems. However, CHIPS integrated circuits—mostly administered by the Department of Commerce—don’t fully drive the electronics interconnection activity being funded by the government. Let’s cover the progress/status of other programs:
Facing the Future: Challenges and Opportunities in Reshoring PCB Manufacturing
08/12/2025 | Prashant Patel -- Column: Facing the FutureFor decades, offshore manufacturing dominated the global electronics industry. The pursuit of cost efficiency, scalability, and access to vast labor markets made countries like China, Taiwan, and Vietnam attractive destinations for printed circuit board (PCB) production. But a seismic shift is underway, from geopolitical instability and supply chain disruptions to rising labor costs and national security concerns.
