Current IssueThe Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.

Incap UK Installs Vertical Storage System to Optimise PCBA Management
February 24, 2025 | IncapEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Incap UK installed two vertical storage systems to enhance PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) storage, boosting efficiency, accuracy, and order fulfilment speed. The investment is expected to improve stock handling efficiency by at least 40%.
These systems, standing at 5.5 metres high and 4 metres wide, are the first of their kind within Incap Corporation. They optimise space by consolidating stock, freeing up valuable floor space, and increasing capacity to meet the needs of high-demand industries such as defence, aerospace, and security.
According to Jamie Maughan, Managing Director of Incap UK, vertical storage systems optimise inventory management while also accelerating component kitting time, increasing storage accuracy, and enhancing on-time delivery, ultimately reducing customer lead times. Units integrated with Incap UK’s ERP system provide real-time inventory insights, supporting responsive, data-driven customer service.
“This investment is a significant step forward in our technology roadmap. It boosts our operational capacity and reinforces our commitment to delivering agile and customer-centric services”, Maughan added.
Incap’s UK factory, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, provides full turn-key product supply including PCBAs, electro-mechanical assembly, cable and wire harness assembly alongside a dedicated standalone rapid prototyping facility (Fast Track), and maintenance, repair, and overhaul services (MRO). The factory has 4,400 square meters of total floor space and has experience in manufacturing since 1974, including over 20 years of experience in the defence, security, and aerospace markets.
