Thermo Fisher Scientific granted a Sustainability Award to Scanfil’s Suzhou factory at the APAC Sustainability Summit. This accolade highlights Suzhou’s dedication to sustainable practices.
The virtual Supplier Sustainability Summit for the APAC Region was held on October 22, 2024. Over 100 Thermo Fisher suppliers attended. During the summit, two suppliers were recognized with the Supplier Sustainability Recognition, and Scanfil’s Suzhou factory was proudly one of the recipients. This recognition underscores Scanfil’s alignment with Thermo Fisher’s sustainability targets and common values.
“We are glad to see that our work in sustainability is recognized by a key customer. When entering our factory shop floor, we have an online visualization of CO2 emissions, energy generated by solar panels and other key data visible to any visitor. It gives confidence to our sustainability development plan and that we move in the right direction,” says Christian Kesten, VP APAC and General Manager, Scanfil Suzhou.
Suzhou factory is honored by this acknowledgment and is committed to furthering sustainable practices in collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific. The partnership between Scanfil and Thermo Fisher Scientific is founded on mutual goals for a more sustainable future. Both companies look forward to continuing their impactful collaboration.

Better Sustainability Policies for Electronics
10/29/2025 | Diana Radovan, Global Electronics AssociationI joined the Global Electronics Association in August 2025 as the director of sustainability policy. Since then, much has happened in terms of geopolitics and in the development and re-envisioning of sustainability policies in the industry. While the European Commission has released several legislative packages to simplify sustainability requirements (“omnibus”), these developments haven’t yet settled and are not in effect. Given the many recent and ongoing public consultations, with often conflicting input from a broad range of stakeholders, final negotiations remain rather polarized among policymakers.
