LITEON Technology announced that it has joined LOT Network, the leading global patent licensing platform and non-profit community dedicated to reducing litigation risk from patent assertion entities (PAEs).
LITEON, a global leader in AI infrastructure, power management, optoelectronics, information technology, consumer electronics, and automotive electronics, is committed to supporting innovation and protecting its customers, partners, and suppliers in an increasingly complex intellectual property landscape. Membership in LOT Network reflects LITEON’s emphasis on responsible patent stewardship and safeguarding the broader ecosystem against PAE risks.
“We believe that we have a responsibility to protect our stakeholders, and our market,” said Tom Soong, Chairman of LITEON. “Becoming a member of LOT Network allows us to keep our energy and resources devoted to protecting innovation and supporting a healthy ecosystem instead of fighting unnecessary legal action. We are pleased to support broader industry efforts to address PAE risk and foster innovation.”
Rob Kowal, Sr. Director of Licensing at Microsoft, said, “LITEON is a valued Microsoft supplier, and as a fellow member of LOT Network, we’re pleased to see them make this commitment. LITEON’s membership strengthens the broader community of operating companies working together to reduce the risk posed by PAE litigation. We appreciate LITEON’s leadership and hope their example encourages other companies to consider joining LOT Network.”
LOT Network is the most comprehensive solution for addressing the risk associated with PAE litigation. If a patent owned by a member is later transferred to a PAE, all other members of the community automatically receive a license to that patent – effectively immunizing them against that patent as a litigation threat in the hands of a PAE.
Ken Seddon, CEO of LOT Network, said, “Unfortunately, many companies don’t realize they can be sued even if they don’t own patents, based on technologies that they use in everyday business. In practice, by joining LOT Network, LITEON has provided customers, partners, and other business associates a way to protect themselves from PAE litigation, as well as increased the overall resilience of the entire ecosystem against litigation threats.”
