Kopin Corporation, a leading provider of application-specific optical systems and high-performance microdisplays for defense, training, industrial, consumer and medical products, today announced the award of an approximate $9 million follow-on production contract in support of a custom thermal imaging assembly build for a major U.S. defense prime contractor.
The custom eyepiece module integrates Kopin’s microdisplay, lens and drive electronics within a durable, ruggedized enclosure. As a key component of a detachable man portable thermal weapon system, it enables warfighters to accurately detect enemy targets in harsh and demanding environments – whether day or night – enhancing their combat capabilities. Weapon sights and soldier-borne vision systems equip warfighters with superior capabilities over adversaries, delivering real-time, high-resolution situational intelligence to support rapid and informed decision making and sharper battlefield awareness.
“This follow-on contract further increases our strong backlog of future deliveries,” said Bill Maffucci, SVP, Business Development and Strategy. “The consistent performance of our products has earned the trust and confidence of allied forces around the world. We believe this order reaffirms the proven reliability and mission-readiness of our eyepiece assemblies across critical U.S. and NATO-aligned weapon sight programs. We are proud to provide our defense customers with equipment that meets their requirements and seamlessly integrates with weapon sight sensors to deliver sharp, reliable visuals to the warfighter.”
