Driving Growth and Transforming the EMS Industry
March 5, 2025 | Nolan Johnson, SMT007 MagazineEstimated reading time: 1 minute

With IPC APEX EXPO 2025 just a few weeks away, industry veterans Jack Calderon and Chaim Lubin of Lincoln International speak about the transformative power of what they have dubbed the Electronics Super-Cycle. Jack and Chaim will be presenters at the EMS Leadership Summit on March 17, discussing the sustained growth trajectory of the EMS provider industry, driven by relentless demand for electronics in everyday life.
Highlighting their extensive experience in EMS transactions and strategic mergers, they offer a forward-looking perspective on how companies can navigate market challenges, leverage the Super-Cycle, and build equity value.
Nolan Johnson: Let’s start by talking about your presentation at the EMS Leadership Summit.
Jack Calderon: We have been fortunate to speak several times at IPC APEX EXPO, where we will continue to focus on our audience, which comprises entrepreneurs and long-established companies. Most entrepreneurs think about their exit plan and receiving the full value of what’s been built, while established companies always try to figure out ways to grow. Part of growth is getting new customers, but can also be acquiring companies that strategically fit. That acquisition part is our focus.
Chaim Lubin: We will talk about what's occurred in the market over the past year, as well as the past several years, that have shaped the EMS industry into what we have today. We will also talk about where the market is headed. We’ll be infusing our knowledge of the industry not only from the various companies we work with, but also from the standpoint of how mergers and acquisitions are helping shape the industry.
Johnson: What has happened recently to put us in the current position?
Calderon: Since 2016, we’ve been saying that the EMS industry will be a great beneficiary of what we call the Electronics Super-Cycle. You can see this in your everyday life; electronics are taking over. Whether it's an automobile, a coffeemaker, or a machine on a factory floor, electronics are revolutionizing the world. Someone has to build this stuff. That will primarily be the EMS industry. To us, the future of EMS has a spotlight on it.
